The Miracle

I am a student of consciousness. As a psychotherapist and meditator I have studied and worked with others and my own consciousness for years, seeking the path to a greater sense of well being and purpose. On the deepest level, all of us want to feel deeply nourished, supported and connected to others in positive ways. We want to contribute to others lives in positive ways, because it makes us feel good to help others. We want to feel our lives have a sense of purpose and meaning and connecting with others, helping others, fills this deep need. On very deep, foundational and unconscious levels, we all pursue this need for meaning and purpose. We know at some level that we are living a miracle, and the miracle is in us, a part of us, and all around us. The miracle is happening to us and through us. It is the air we breathe and the cells in our bodies. It is our thoughts, feelings, body sensations, our relationships, our projects, our physical constructions, our beliefs, everything. It is the miracle of being alive in this moment right now.

In our moments of awe, in our peak experiences, we are able to glimpse the majesty of our human lives, the miracle of being a human being living on this planet at this moment in time.  We connect with that experience - and then we lose it. It’s like breathing air that is so purified it takes our breath away, blows our mind out, so that we are soaring, our being is so light and so full of light, and in the next second we are lying on the ground, being run over by a truck. We hurt, we suffer and despair. There is so much struggle and hardship. Because the pain hurts so much, we think it’s real. We forget the glorious ecstasy we experienced just a moment before. We identify with the pain and make that real. We diminish the ecstatic as illusory, fleeting, momentary, a fluke. We dig our heels into the pain and despair and let that become who we think we are. And so it perpetuates.

In my private practice I worked with people who struggle with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, addictions, and trauma. On a daily basis I taught my clients tools – tools to help them cope with difficult emotions and, hopefully, to help them achieve a greater sense of wellbeing. I believe all of us can benefit from practicing these tools on a daily basis, and in fact, the more we incorporate them into our daily lives, the more quickly our experience of ourselves, and our lives, changes.

Healing Wisdom Within is a program and community built on transformation. The tools offered are powerful if practiced regularly. They have the power to transform your consciousness and your life. When we change our consciousness we change our experience of the world. These tools have the power to change who we think we are, what we identify with, and how we perceive ourselves and the people in our lives. These tools have the power to bring transformation and to help you uncover the miracle of your life.

On my office bookshelf I kept a picture of a cat looking into a full length mirror. The reflection back is a majestic full maned lion. May we all be like that kitty; instead of identifying with our smallness, we live into our strength, beauty, and gloriousness. As we practice these tools, we begin to catch glimpses of our power and own it, to see ourselves as more than our limitations and suffering.
